Bridging the Gap is a three year Lottery funded project to take creative engagement into local residential care homes. A number of Pioneer Projects artists using visual arts, clay, silk painting, fabrics, Timeslips storytelling and movement and dance have been involved with the project. The artists have exchanged knowledge with care staff and activities workers to overcome various challenges in order to deliver creative sessions in the residential care homes.
The event held in Skipton was an evaluation of that process and a celebration of the achievements from all involved. Future plans were discussed as to how this vital work is continued now that the project has come to an end.
All agreed that the positive relationships formed between the different care home’s linking activity workers together as well as staff, artists, relatives and volunteers will continue to be developed to ensure a sustainable learning forum goes forward.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with Bridging the Gap and all who attended the event.
